The University of Coimbra (UC) is organising the first EC2U "Students Week", to be held between the 2nd and 4th of May, in a partnership with the City Hall, Erasmus Student Network Coimbra and the Coimbra Students’ Union (Academic Association of Coimbra - AAC), welcoming 110 students from 9 European universities.

The event will bring together students from the 7 EC2U Alliance partner universities: UC, University of Poitiers (France), Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Romania, University of Salamanca (Spain), University of Pavia (Italy) and the University of Turku (Finland).

The 100 students from the EC2U universities will be joined by 5 students from the University of Linz (Johannes Kepler Universität Linz, Austria), an institution that joined the alliance in the new call for funding from the European Commission, as well as 5 students from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine) - an EC2U partner since April 2022 - who have been awarded grants by the University of Coimbra to attend this initiative.

Participants will be able to take part in several cultural and sporting activities, as well as in debates to reflect on Europe. The welcome session will take place on the 2nd of May, at Colégio da Trindade, starting at 10 am, with the presence of the UC Vice-Rector for external relations and Alumni, the EC2U coordinator, Ludovic Thilly (virtually), the President of the General Board of AAC, João Caseiro, and the President of the Erasmus Student Network Coimbra, Mariana Santos.

The Rector of the University of Coimbra, Amílcar Falcão, believes that "these student meetings under the EC2U activities are unique moments to share ideas and reflect on Europe, and are thus crucial to fostering peace and dialogue among younger generations".

"Coimbra warmly welcomes the students of the EC2U alliance, with the certainty that meeting in our city will offer a true opportunity to experience the European values that unite us in the effort to promote peace, security and democracy", says the city Mayor, José Manuel Silva.
