FPCEUC Professor honoured by the International Psychogeriatric Association

Mário R. Simões, Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, received the Distinguished Service Award from the international association that brings together mental health professionals from over 50 countries.

The International Psychogeriatric Association (IPA) has awarded the Distinguished Service Award to Mário R. Simões, Full Professor and Director of the Psychological Assessment and Psychometrics Laboratory (PsyAssessmentLab) at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra (FPCEUC). The award was presented this month in Lisbon at the IPA annual international congress.

Mário R. Simões was recognised for his services in teaching and research in neuropsychological assessment of older people and, in particular, in the field of development, adaptation and validation of relevant instruments for the study of this population.

IPA was founded in 1982 to help improve the mental health of older people. It brings together mental health professionals from over 50 countries and from disciplines such as psychology, psychiatry, neurology, geriatrics, nursing, social work and others that work with the elderly.
