Registration open for workshop on publishing in top academic journals
The workshop Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal Paper Development, will take place on 3 June 2026, at Convento São Francisco (Almedina Room), from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm.
The University of Coimbra, in collaboration with the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (SEJ), is organising a Paper Development Workshop (PDW) designed to support researchers in the field of entrepreneurship in the development and publication of articles in leading scientific journals.
The workshop will be led by SEJ Associate Editors Marco Giarratana (IE Business School) and Pinar Ozcan (University of Oxford). The programme will begin with a plenary session on the publication process at SEJ, addressing topics such as the characteristics of a successful paper and the main challenges commonly identified by editors and reviewers during the evaluation process.
This will be followed by individual presentations, with each participant given 10 minutes to present their work, followed by 20 minutes of constructive feedback from the editors and other participants, with the aim of improving the manuscript. The workshop will be conducted entirely in English.
Early-career researchers, as well as authors who have not yet published in the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, are particularly encouraged to apply. The PDW welcomes submissions on any topic related to entrepreneurship, at all levels of analysis and using any empirical methodology.
The PDW is free of charge and open to researchers and students who submit either full papers (formatted according to SEJ guidelines) or extended abstracts (up to 10 pages, including figures and tables, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman). The submission deadline is 30 March 2026, and submissions must be made via the following form: https://ls.uc.pt/index.php/497394?lang=en.
Each participant may submit only one paper or one extended abstract. Submissions must be original, written in English, and submitted as a single PDF file, including a cover letter with the paper title, names, email addresses and affiliations of all authors, as well as an indication of which authors will attend the workshop. Authors will be notified of the evaluation outcome by 30 April 2026.
The PDW is part of the programme of the Startup Capital Summit and is supported by MetaRed X Portugal – the Collaborative Network of Entrepreneurship Units of Portuguese Higher Education Institutions, and by the Centre for Business and Economics Research (CEBER).
Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs. For further information, please contact the organisers Gabriela Fernandes (pro.reitora.gabriela.fernandes@uc.pt) or Pedro Torres (pedro.torres@uc.pt).
