The University of Coimbra (UC) is organising a workshop on the subject of quantum computing. The initiative will count on the participation of IBM, leading company in the field, and will take place on the 15th of March, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., at the Student Hub (Faculty of Medicine building, Campus I). Participation is open to all interested parties, with no prior registration required.

This workshop aims to bring together the UC team in quantum computing and analyse the possibility of establishing a collaboration with IBM. Quantum computing is a multidisciplinary field that harnesses the laws of quantum mechanics to solve problems too complex for classical computers.

The opening session will have the participation of Edmundo Monteiro (UC), José Ataíde (IBM), and the Rector of the University of Coimbra, Amílcar Falcão. Throughout the day, the event will feature several sessions addressing the different strands of quantum computing. The closing session will be in charge of the UC Vice-Rector for research, João Ramalho.
