Mariette Pereira, a researcher at the Coimbra Chemistry Centre (CQC/UC), and Nuno Raimundo, a researcher at the Multidisciplinary Institute for Ageing (MIA Portugal), won the Prix Tremplin Mariano Gago along with their French scientific partners.

The four winning French-Portuguese research teams (which include two teams with researchers from the UC) will share the 84,000 euro Prix Tremplin Mariano Gago.

The Prix Tremplin Mariano Gago was created in order to strengthen ongoing bilateral research cooperation between teams from France and Portugal and to encourage the development and expansion of joint research.

The winning projects were selected by a jury coordinated by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the French Academy of Sciences and the Lisbon Academy of Sciences. The Portuguese and French scientists who evaluated the proposals considered the quality of the preliminary results of the partnership, the scientific excellence of the projects, the quality and complementarity of the laboratories involved and the prospects for new collaborations.

The award ceremony will take place on 21 June 2022 at the French Academy of Sciences.
