As of Monday, 19th of April, the University of Coimbra (UC) resumes its in-person activities, in accordance with the government recommendations.

The way in which the UC will function is the same as during the first semester of the present academic year, including what concerns onsite evaluation.

As for teaching, the hybrid model, developed in March 2020 and adopted in the first semester of the current academic year, will be adopted again until the end of the academic year, safeguarding possible changes that may be defined due to the evolution of the pandemic situation.

Assessments will be face-to-face, safeguarding the situations that may justify remote evaluations, as already occurred during this year’s first semester. In the case of master's dissertations and internship reports, the deadlines will be extended until the 31st of October 2021, and the defenses must take place until the end of 2021. Doctoral theses can be delivered until the 31st of December 2021. This deadline refers to the completion of the application process and not only to the delivery of the thesis, so the necessary deadlines for that purpose must be safeguarded by the doctoral student.

The safety of the academic community will be ensured through the implementation of measures already known by all. The reinforcement of daily testing will be carried out during at least the first two weeks of classes. The process will be identical to the one adopted by the UC since the beginning of academic year 2020/2021 (notification and appointment for testing).

SASUC’s canteens and cafeterias will work in a mixed system, in person and/or take-away, and the service will also be allowed on open terraces, within the maximum limit defined by law, including the mandatory use of masks.

The university residences are also operational, in accordance with the legal norms and recommendations of the competent authorities, and monitoring must be reinforced to ensure compliance with these norms and recommendations, in order to mitigate the risk of contagion.

Scientific, cultural, sports and tourism activities and events, as well as the functioning of the various spaces and facilities of the UC, namely study rooms, libraries, archives, museums, cultural and sports infrastructures, shall be resumed in accordance with the schedule established in the Resolution of the Council of Ministers no. 19/2021, of 11th March, published in Diário da República, 1st series, no. 50-A, of 13th March and under the terms and limits legally provided for, in compliance with the guidelines and safety rules in the COVID-19 Prevention Plan and Action Protocol of the UC and other rules issued by the competent authorities.
