Helena Freitas, Full Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), has won the Ernst Haeckel Prize 2024, promoted by the European Ecological Federation (EEF).

Awarded for the first time in 2011, the prize honours a senior ecologist for an outstanding contribution to European ecological science. The nomination was submitted by the Portuguese Ecological Society(SPECO), an EEF member.

Like all previous winners of this international prize, the FCTUC professor will now be invited to deliver an opening plenary lecture at the EEF biennial conference, and will receive both a certificate and a medal.
