Ilan Pappé, professor at the University of Exeter, will give a talk on "International Law and Settler Colonialism in Historical Palestine" at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (FDUC) on the 5th of May at 2.30pm.

Pappé is one of the most renowned international contributors to the study of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He has written several best-selling books with worldwide reach, translated into several languages, including Portuguese. Prof. Pappé was part of the "New Historians" movement in the 1990s, which led to societal transformations resulting in the widespread acceptance of the Oslo Accords. He is therefore a researcher whose work has had impact and recognition far beyond his own field of study.

The opening session will have the intervention of the Vice-Rector of the University of Coimbra for the area of research, João Ramalho-Santos. The meeting will have Joana Ricarte as moderator.
