Portuguese Critical Thinking Network launched at the University of Coimbra

The University of Coimbra (UC) will host the public launch of the Portuguese Critical Thinking Network (Crithinknet) on the 19th of January, an initiative that brings together more than a hundred faculty members from 45 national public and private higher education institutions to promote critical thinking in higher education. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. in the Student Hub (Faculty of Medicine building, UC Campus I).

Crithinknet, led by the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), aims to promote critical thinking in higher education and and encourage active student engagement.

The opening session will take place at 10am and will be addressed by Cristina Albuquerque, Vice Rector of the UC for Education and Student Attraction, as well as representatives from the General Directorate of Higher Education, the Portuguese Association of Private Higher Education and the Portuguese Polytechnics Coordinating Council. The launch event will include an overview of the Network (10:30) by Caroline Dominguez, Professor at UTAD; a round table discussion (11:45) with Ronald Barnett, Emeritus Professor at the Institute of Education, University College London (UCL), and Cassie Hague, representative of the OECD project "Fostering and assessing students' creative and critical thinking skills in higher education"; a practical workshop on critical thinking will be held at 2:30 pm.
