The screening programme run by the Clinical Analysis Laboratory of the University of Coimbra (LACUC) in partnership with the Occupational Health and Safety Management Services of the UC Social Services "aims to monitor the health status of UC staff, faculty and researchers", – explains the technical director of LACUC, Ana Miguel Matos – “Screening is done through a routine check-up based on clinical analyses, aiming to prevent and reduce the risk of avoidable diseases and try to detect any abnormalities early on."

António Queiroz, Head of the Occupational Health and Safety Office, says that the "project is part of a health prevention programme, aiming to promote the well-being of all who work at the UC", further adding that "In addition to detecting unknown conditions and thus preventing more serious health problems, the screening also helps to raise awareness of the healthcare services available at the University of Coimbra, which provide all necessary support to the community."
