UC hosts online lecture by Nobel Prize in Medicine Gregg L. Semenza

Gregg L. Semenza, winner of the 2019 Nobel Prize in Medicine - together with William G. Kaelin Jr. and Sir Peter J. Ratcliffe - will give the online lecture "Hypoxia-Inducible Factors and Cancer Progression" on Friday, the 8th of March at 2 pm, at the Auditorium of the Department of Life Sciences, Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), Pólo I.

The session, held as part of the 'Molecular Biology of Cancer' course of the 'Master's in Cellular and Molecular Biology' of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, is open to the general public.

Gregg Leonard Semenza, Professor of Genetic Medicine at Johns Hopkins University, USA, received the 2019 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for his groundbreaking discovery of the mechanism by which cells respond to changes in oxygen levels—a finding that holds great promise for advancing our understanding of the progression of various diseases.
