UC researcher receives American grant to study the Hellenistic period in Northeastern Syria

André Tomé, researcher at the Research Centre in Archaeology, Arts and Heritage Sciences (CEAACP) of the University of Coimbra has been awarded a grant by the American Harvard Museum of the Ancient Near East, in the scope of the work project “Tell Beydar (1992-2010) – A Seleucid-Parthian Settlement in Northeastern Syria”, coordinated by Professor Maria da Conceição Lopes.

The 2-year grant was awarded during an international competition in a programme managed by Harvard University, which funds archaeological studies and publications – White Levy Program for Archaeological Publications.

The publication of the conclusions of this research will be ensured by the European Centre for Upper Mesopotamian Studies (ECUMS).
