The world premiere of the play "Silence, Silence, Silence, Please", by Ukrainian director Pavlo Yurov, takes place at 9.30 pm on Friday, the 12th of May, at Gil Vicente Academic Theatre; a play based on real stories of people who were caught up in the invasion of Ukraine. "Silence, Silence, Silence, Please" is a co-production of D. Maria II National Theatre and premieres as part of the project "National Odyssey".

Written and directed by Pavlo Yurov and Anatoliy Tatarenko and performed by five Ukrainian actors, “Silence, Silence, Silence, Please” is a play about the Russian war in Ukraine, based on real-life stories of civilians who endure the constant shelling and occupation, of soldiers and paramedics on the frontline and volunteers supplying the army and providing humanitarian aid to the population.

The play seeks to immerse the audience in the psychological and physical states of people experiencing the events of the invasion - from being exposed to constant artillery and aerial shelling, to widespread national resistance, trying to understand the reasoning processes of these people and how they are able to act in survival mode.

The play will be followed by a talk with the audience, with the participation of the cast and moderated by Pedro Penim, Artistic Director of D. Maria II National Theatre.

In a joint initiative of the University of Coimbra / Gil Vicente Academic Theatre and D. Maria II National Theatre, free tickets are available to the Ukrainian community in Portugal (tickets reservation should be made by email to: bilheteira@tagv.uc.pt).
