The UC was one of the first universities to reach the platinum level in the Healthy Campus Programme and the first to achieve certification in all 100 evaluation criteria.
The highest-level certification in the Healthy Campus Programme, awarded by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), was delivered today, 27th May, to the University of Coimbra (UC), in Brussels.
The Vice-Rector of the UC for Quality and Sport was present at the official award ceremony, representing the UC. In the words of António Figueiredo, "the University of Coimbra sees the attribution of this certificate as a recognition of the work developed in the scope of the well-being of its community".
António Figueiredo highlights that "the demanding and multidisciplinary nature of the inclusion criteria for this recognition, greatly increased by reaching the Platinum level (the highest level), are evidence of the right path that the UC has traced and is following".
It should be noted that the University of Coimbra was one of the first universities to reach the platinum level in the Healthy Campus Programme. It was also the first to achieve certification in the 100 assessment criteria.
The Healthy Campus global certification programme, created by FISU, aims to implement a healthy lifestyle in the academic community, enhancing operational programmes in the areas of Sports and Physical Activity that simultaneously influence areas such as Mental and Social Health, Nutrition, Disease Prevention, Risk Behaviour and Environment, Sustainability and Social Responsibility.
The ceremony, which took place at the Free University of Brussels, was attended by 94 certified universities from 31 countries. The initiative also included the official presentation of the book "The Best Practices" in the Healthy Campus Programme, which includes several good practices of the University of Coimbra.
