Camila Rebelo wins Vice World Champion title at FISU University Games

It's the third Portuguese medal in the history of swimming and the first female medallist in the sport at a World University Championships.

Twenty-year-old Camila Rebelo, a medical student at the University of Coimbra, today (2nd August) won the silver medal in the women's 200m backstroke final at the World University Games in Chengdu, China, with a time of 2:10.47, becoming the first female Portuguese swimmer to stand on a world podium.

Rebelo won the third medal in the history of Portuguese swimming at the World University Games after Alexandre Yokochi in 1985 and 1987.

The UC student-athlete has already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The FISU World University Games are organised every two years by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). It is the second largest international multi-sport event after the Olympic Games, bringing together university athletes from all over the world.
