The Multidisciplinary Institute for Ageing (MIA-Portugal) will organise, from the 4th to the 8th of April, the "Ageing Spring School", with the purpose of providing an advanced and intensive training programme for PhD students and early career researchers with promising CVs in the area of ageing biology. Applications are open until the 28th of January.

MIA-Portugal intends to bring together in Coimbra renowned specialists from Europe and the United States, with emphasis on the leaders of research groups and institutions focused on the biology of ageing. During five days, the selected students will have the opportunity to discuss their research projects and deepen their knowledge on topics such as the biological mechanisms of ageing and the possibilities of developing therapies for diseases associated with the ageing process.

MIA-Portugal is the first research centre in southern Europe dedicated to the study of the biological and molecular bases of ageing. The Institute results from a European partnership, led by the University of Coimbra, and involves the University of Newcastle (UNEW, UK), the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG, NL), and Instituto Pedro Nunes - IPN, with the support of Mayo Clinics (USA) and the University of Copenhagen (DK).
