The University of Coimbra has just joined the World Health Organisation's (WHO) Pan-European Coalition for Mental Health, which aims to promote and improve mental health across the WHO European Region.

Launched in September 2021, The WHO Pan-European Coalition for Mental Health aims to overcome current barriers to mental health services by bringing together national leaders, professionals, members of civil society, representatives of international organisations and experts to promote mental health.

The Coalition is committed to the transformation of mental health services and the integration of mental health into emergency response and recovery efforts, as well as the advancement of mental healthcare and the prevention of mental illness.

The first meeting of the WHO Pan-European Coalition for Mental Health is being held today and tomorrow (4 and 5 May) - in digital format - with all members present. The University of Coimbra is represented by Lisete Mónico, professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences and researcher at the UC Centre for Research in Neuropsychology and Cognitive and Behavioral Intervention.
